Last week some of our church friends came over with an amazing home cooked dinner and a bottle of wine. It was such a thoughtful gift to this set of young(ish) parents and the company was as good as the cheesecake! Tom and Viquen Costigan are both charitable and charismatic and a source of encouragement for young people and married couples in our parish. They live out a testimony for Christ-centered love in their own marriage and that's pretty inspiring!⠀

Back in my younger days, I had a hard time imagining I'd ever be able to put aside my independence and become someone's wife. When talking about the future with family, I would never assume marriage but rather said, "if I get married..." because the idea of putting all your trust in a man was terrifying! I actually would have panic dreams of being forced down the aisle! I mean, when you really think about it, marriage, from a secular point of view is straight-up cooky-dooks. Here's this person who you're going to lock-in with, knowing you'll both change over the decades. Someone you'll take on debt with, someone you'll trust not to squander your savings, someone you'll share your fertility with, and someone who will learn your biggest flaws and weaknesses.⠀

So I told God, "Listen, if you want marriage to be my vocation, you've gotta show me the right guy and make it SUPER clear that he's the one. I ain't doin' this without You setting out a very clear path." ⠀

Well, God answered my prayers and made it abundantly clear that he found the one whom my soul loves. Scratch that, HE MADE the one whom my soul loves! Kevin is my perfect match in so many ways and makes my life so full. He makes me a better person and builds me up to believe in myself. He's an amazing father and I can't believe how lucky I am to get to parent with this man of God. He's a lover of purpose and always seeks out God's will, and THAT is what makes me able to trust him with my heart and life. We said our vows 5 years ago today and it's the best promise I've ever made. ⠀ ⠀

My sweet boy is now almost 2 months old {ugly cry face} {wearing size 9 month clothes mind you!} and in just a couple months my favorite girl in the world will be three! 😭 I wish I could slow time down, but I guess brevity is in part what makes this season of life so cherished. Just like the cherry blossoms, you have to be paying attention or you'll miss it. Sure, I wish I had more sleep and more time in the day, but more than anything, I hope I can always clearly remember these tiring but joyful moments.⠀
