Road Trip proposal in West Virginia, Lindy Point + Black Water Falls Hiking Trail Engagement
Conrad called me in the middle of my families’ beach vacation. When he explained that he wanted to propose to his girlfriend while they were vacationing through the Mountain State, I knew it was worth leaving the kiddos with grandparents. Squeal! A secret proposal among my beloved mountains! Conrad was patient while I excitedly spouted off a long list of options dotting his existing road trip plans, from hidden waterfalls (Douglas Falls) to prominent quartzite fins (Seneca Rocks), until we finally settled on the breathtaking overlook of Lindy Point in Black Water Falls State Park, Thomas, WV. I hiked out the trail an hour ahead of their scheduled arrival, set my exposure amongst the bright sunshine, and camped out behind a boulder because it was SO windy! I just looked like another hiker when Conrad and Nicole appeared on the overlook. It wasn’t long before Conrad got down on one knee.
Once Conrad confessed that I wasn’t just another hiker, we walked around the park for some more images just before the sunset.
Nicole and Conrad are back in Michigan now, but it makes my heart happy that such a big landmark in their lovestory is in West Virginia. Thank you, Conrad for bringing me in on this exciting day!
