Sara + Patrick, Married! Home Garden Ceremony + McFarland House Reception, Martinsburg, WV
Looking through these images during editing brought back all the memories from Sara and wedding day. When we originally met, the pair were keen on marrying in their front yard- there was a trickling fountain, big mature trees, and they were putting up an arbor to decorate with florals. They knew their nearest and dearest would surround them as they made their vows next to the trickling water and beneath the canopy.
As wedding planning ensued, the pair thought of the comfort of their guests, and worried that their August date would prove too hot for any extended reception. So Sara and Patrick decided to have the ceremony at the original location, but then after formal portraits, move the fun to the Historic McFarland House in Martinsburg, WV, just a quick drive from their home. The mix of the forested nuptials and classically beautiful McFarland House were linked perfectly by the garden-inspired palette and lush florals designed by Flowers Unlimited of Martinsburg, WV. The space also offered a beautiful bridal suite for the bridal party to get ready.
But beyond the external beauty of the day, the pair brought real emotion and relationships to the wedding. Family, clearly important to the couple, were center stage both in attendance and within the wedding party. In fact, the groom's sister served as both the maid of honor and the cake baker! Close friends rounded out the guest list and bridal party for an intimate, but joyfully celebrant affair.
Sara and Patrick just got back from their honeymoon in Ireland, the same place they got engaged. "My Heart" and "My Pulse" in Gaelic grace their hands and were visible when the pair exchanged rings. Clearly the land is close to their hearts and love story!
And of course the biggest thank you to Sara and Patrick for trusting me with their wedding photography. I know photographs and memories of the people near and dear to them have been a priority and it was such an honor to be a part of this dream team of vendors from Flowers Unlimited, to the incredible kitchen behind the food at McFarland House (any place that has fancy chicken and waffles is at the top of my list), to the incredibly delicious cakes (I think 4 flavors?!) from sweetspectations. Last, but certainly not least, a big thank you to my second shooter, Hannah Roach. I love working with Hannah, she's a fabulous second who knows my personality and shooting style like the back of her hand. We had such a good time photographing this wedding and these are only a fraction of the images- such a great day!
