Best Friend's Senior Session; Morgan Grove Park, Shepherdstown, WV
When I made a model call a few weeks ago, I anticipated writing this blog post with the goal of attracting lots of seniors to CWP. I love connecting with seniors, because I think this stage of life is so exciting! But some self-reflection has lead me to a decision to narrow the focus of Claire Watson Photography. Obviously I care about giving my clients the best possible images I can deliver, but just as important is client experience. It's a cornerstone of my business to make my clients lives easier and more fun. With this mission in mind, I've decided to substantially change my business and to instead only accept a handful of seniors each year so that I'll be able to sustain that level of attention and care.
So, this is your chance to get in before the final curtain. If you want to book a session this year, tell me all about yourself. Don't just tell me, "I'm graduating and I need pictures because that's what we're supposed to do." Instead, tell me what excites you, what problems you want to solve, what motivates you, whose opinion you care about, or what experience you've had that has shaped you into the person you are right now, in this season of life. If we're going to do this, let's do this right. Let me learn who you are so I can show off the real you, radiant and relaxed.
I'll be taking down my marketing for seniors soon, so these model reps will be one of the few ways to find cw senior photography after June.
So about these gals: Kaylee, Maddie, and Jada were sweet enough to help me out on this special project. It's an homage to my own best friends from high school. I'm still close with some of them and I think it would have been so cool to have a photography session like this now that we're all grown up with degrees, jobs, and families. We're all in different cities nowadays, but we still keep in touch and pray for each other's life decisions, struggles, and joys. I'm so grateful that we all found each other at that important stage of life- where we were coming into our own morals and personalities. My girls gave me confidence to be myself and to stand firm in my convictions. That was a huge gift and one that I wanted to celebrate.
In this case, Kaylee and Maddie have known each other for quite some time. They have been friends for-eva, but happily made room for a new kindred spirit in Jada when she transferred over from a private school not long ago.
And it's so wonderful to have friends who have your back. Jada's been through some hardcore treatments for thyroid cancer, but it hasn't been anything this fighter can't handle. It's no surprise her experiences over the past two years have shaped what she wants to do. "I’m going to be a nurse practitioner for pediatric oncology and internal medicine. [I'm passionate about] helping people who have cancer and my goal is to one day be apart of releasing a cure for a lot of them." Jada was so open about her experience, and I think she really has a lot to offer this world and its people.
Maddie and I look nothing alike. She looks like a golden haired queen. I mean, really, that first glowy image, doesn't it look like she should have her own "the Crown" spin off or something? But hearing her description of herself made me realize she's a kindred spirit! I am a pretty nice person, but there were definitely a few times back in the day where I let bullies know I wasn't afraid to tussle. I asked Maddie to describe herself and she responded, " I'm like a secret weapon! I'm super quiet and stick to myself but with my friends I'm out going and always have their backs."
Thank you ladies for participating in this fun shoot! I really loved showing off your individual smiles and capturing your interactions as friends. I wish you all the success in the world and hope that you too get to keep in touch with the friends who have helped shape you into the young women you've become!
